Lela "Margaret" Troutman
Lela “Margaret” Troutman, 90, of Fort Madison, IA, passed away at 8:23 a.m. on Friday, August 5, 2022 at Addington Place in Fort Madison, IA. She was born on November 13, 1931 in Mt. Sterling, IA to Ralph & Gladys Brasfield Hales. She married Oscar Gregg and they later divorced. She met and married Marvin “Whitey” Meyer and he preceded her in death. In 1996 she married Jim Troutman and he preceded her in death on May 30, 2011. She worked at Sheaffer Pen, Sylvania, was a waitress for several restaurants, worked at the DMV, was a meter maid, and later owned and operated Two of a Kind Bar. She was a member of Fort Madison United Methodist Church and D.A.R. Jean Espy Chapter in Fort Madison. She enjoyed traveling, doing stained glass, gardening, reading and spending time with her family. She loved all animals, especially her cats. Margaret is survived by: 2-daughters: Denise (Charles) Hendrickson of Shelbyville, IL & Dianne (Sam) Johnson of Fort Madison, IA; 1-step daughter: Sherri Troutman of Iowa, 2-step sons: Jim (Chris) Troutman & Robert (Betsy) Troutman both of Iowa; 4-grandchildren; 5-great grandchildren and several step grandchildren & step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents, 3-husbands and 1-brother. A visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral service will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m. at King-Lynk Funeral Home & Crematory with Pastor Jeff Metcalf officiating. Burial will be held at Soldiers’ Circle in Oakland Cemetery.
