Belinda (nee DePiero) was born in Winnipeg to Helene and Caesare DePiero. She was predeceased by her husband Ernie. She will be deeply missed and forever loved by daughters Lynette Zapp (Greg Hickaway), Karen Zapp (Curtis Cross), Diane Zapp (Jeff Case) and grandsons Mark and Daniel Hickaway.

Belinda was well-loved by many.  She was proud of her heritage and fondly remembered her hard-working parents. Belinda too worked throughout her life, with one of the favourite jobs being head cashier at numerous Safeway stores. She was independent and up for any challenge placed in her path. Fiercely determined, she was a solution-focused woman finding ways to achieve her goals.

People appreciated her kindness and generosity. Lovingly known to many as ‘Bea’, she had a heart large enough to welcome many into her home and her life. Those who have shared in her love, generosity and hospitality can attest to the soft footprints she left on their lives.

She loved her family. She loved those her family loved, who then became like family.

 

She was strong

She was loving

She was smart

She was independent

She was without a doubt the best cook

She had a great sense of humour

She was giving

She always had faith.

 

We would like to thank Dr. Erica Halmarson for her kind attention to, and care of Belinda. We would also like to thank the Palliative Care team from WRHA under the direction of Lori Penner and Alanna and the team from Home Instead, all of whom helped support our mother’s wishes of staying in her home as long as possible. The quick and responsive actions from each group was so very appreciated. Lastly, in the final days, thank you to the kind and reassuring staff at Riverview for providing a peaceful environment not only for our mom, but for us. 

Mom, you will live in our hearts, remembered forever.

A service will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 11:00 am at St. Alphonsus Church, 315 Munroe Avenue.
