Elizabeth M Chisum

Elizabeth Mae Chisum, 87 of Dalton, Ma, passed away August 2, 2022 at Craneville Place in Dalton. <br><br>Born in Springfield, MA on July 22, 1935, she was the daughter of George Woods of Chicopee, Massachusetts and Anne Power Woods from Derrylard, Ireland.<br><br>Elizabeth was a graduate of West Springfield High School and then continued her education by training as a pre-school teacher.<br><br>She married Wayne Chisum of Commanche, Oklahoma on November 26, 1959 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepard, West Springfield, Ma. He predeceased her on May 10, 2013. <br><br>Mrs. Chisum was a preschool teacher and was a loving mother. She was a member of her children’s PTA and was a Girl Scout Leader.<br><br>She leaves behind her daughter Mary Anne White and husband Michael of Pittsfield; three sons, Michael Chisum and wife Jennifer of Oakland, ME, John Chisum of Turners Falls, and Jamie Chisum and wife Kristin of Wayland, MA. She is survived by her eight grandchildren, Madeline Chisum, Patrick Chisum, Crystal Chisum, Audrey Dragone and husband Rob, Justin Chisum, Grete Chisum, Luke Chisum and Hadley Chisum; and four great-grandchildren, Nemi, Francis, Jack and Ian. She was predeceased by her brother, George Woods and her sister Anne Woods. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, two brother-laws, and five sister in-laws. She loved reading, especially English mysteries, classic films, and spending time with family and friends over a cup of tea. <br><br>FUNERAL NOTICE: Calling hours will be held on Monday August 8th from 4 to 6 p.m. at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 E. Main St, Dalton. Burial will be held in Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery in Agawam. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in her name to Friends of the Dalton Public Library in care of the funeral home. <br>
