William A. Bowling, 89, of Oneida, departed this life on Friday, August 5, 2022. Born September 21, 1932 in New River, TN. Son of the late Harrison and Flora (Washam) Bowling. Veteran of the United States Air Force having served as a Sergeant during the Korean conflict. United in marriage to Vivian Jeffers on July 22, 1955. William attended Tennessee Technological University obtaining a degree in Accounting. William did graduate work towards a Master’s degree in Environmental Health and ground water pollution at University of Tennessee and East Tennessee State University. William retired from the State of Tennessee after 35 years of service as an Environmental Compliance Supervisor. William was an ordained Deacon at Low Gap Baptist Church and then at Bethlehem Baptist Church. He taught Sunday School and was on the Building Committee. Member of First Baptist Church of Oneida. William loved his Lord and sang in every choir in the church he attended. William was a 50 year Mason belonging to the Masonic Lodge of Robbins. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and Shriner as well. William and Vivian took yearly vacations either by going on cruises or going to any beach. He loved spending time with his granddaughters and his great-granddaughter. William was a very busy hardworking man that loved his family and the Lord. William is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Vivian; daughter, Sherri McCloud and her husband, Bill; granddaughters, Brittney Pettit, Jillian Carroll; great-granddaughter, Jerra Pettit; sisters, Jo Ann Chitwood and Joyce Keeton; nieces and nephews, Rick Keeton, Debbie Reagan, Harris Keeton, Milton Bowling, Pam Rhody, Marcia Claiborne, Lee Ann Seabolt, Keith Jeffers, Ronnie Jeffers, Joe Walker, Ranae Gibson, Nancy Hudson, Wade Walker, David Walker, Karen Fritts, Martha Walker, Peggy Bruce, Kathy Stooksbury, Gerald Jeffers, Patricia Terry and Velma Lowe. Predeceased by his parents, Harrison and Flora Bowling; brothers, Harrison Bowling Jr. and Ben Bailey Bowling; niece and nephew, Rogetta Chitwood and Dennis Jeffers; in-law's, Ann Bowling, Joyce Bowling, Leonard Keeton, Claude Jeffers and his wife Iris, James Jeffers and his wife Faye, Christine Walker and her husband Sherman, Mary Walker and her husband Stanley, Elizabeth Freels and her husband Dale. Graveside Service will be held on Friday, August 12 at 1 p.m. in Carson Memorial Park in Oneida. Rev. David Walker will be officiating the Graveside Services. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in William’s name to First Baptist Church in Oneida. Family wishes to give a very special thanks to the team of loving and diligent caregivers: Brenda Spradlin, Donna Byrd, and Frieda Seabolt; Dr Tim Smith and all his dedicated staff members at Grace Primary Care, Dr Carlos Montes and his hardworking staff at Parkway Cardiology; the caring nursing staff of Quality Home Health; and the accommodating staff at Buckeye Home Medical Equipment.
