<p>Marcelyn Ann Burkholder Barge, 89, of New Castle, went home to be with her Lord and Savior and her sweetheart, Russ, on the morning of August 3, 2022.</p><p><br></p><p>Born on April 5, 1933 in New Castle, Marcy was the daughter of the late Clyde and Virginia Burkholder.</p><p><br></p><p>She was a 1950 graduate of New Castle High School. She was engaged when she was sixteen but promised her Dad she wouldn’t get married until she was eighteen. Marcelyn and Russell were married on April 6, 1951, the day after she turned eighteen by the Rev. Albert Howe. They celebrated their 71st anniversary this year.</p><p><br></p><p>She was a member of Calvary Independent Church, the Ambassador Sunday School Class, Lois Missionary Guild and the church choir.</p><p><br></p><p>In her early years she worked in the accounting department at Penn Power. Later, she worked at Dollar Savings Bank.</p><p><br></p><p>She loved her family and was a devoted wife and mother of four children, Deborah (Tim) McMillin, James (Lisa) Barge, Kathy (Jon) Kimmel and Laurie (John) Tall. She was also blessed with ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Marcy is also survived by two sisters, Nancy Scherer of Jamestown, New York, Susan Burkholder of Delaware, Ohio and a brother, James Burkholder of Munhall, PA.</p><p><br></p><p>Marcy was preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life, Russell Dayton Barge.</p><p><br></p><p>Marcy loved God, her family and friends. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Calvary Independent Church, 424 E. Moody Ave., New Castle, PA.</p><p><br></p><p>A Celebration of Life Service will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church on Saturday. Pastor Chuck Gavroy will officiate.</p><p><br></p><p>She will be laid to rest beside Russ in Graceland Cemetery.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, Marcy requested that memorial contributions be made out and mailed to Calvary Independent Church.</p><p><br></p><p>James 1:12 “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love Him.”</p><p><br></p><p>Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ed &amp; Don DeCarbo Funeral Home &amp; Crematory, 941 S. Mill St.</p>
