Thomas "Richard" McIntosh Obituary

Thomas Richard McIntosh passed away peacefully at home on the morning of Wednesday, August 3rd, 2022, with his wife by his side.  Richard, born July 29th, 1943, was 79 years of age.  After a long, courageous battle with his declining health, he has been delivered into the hands of the Lord.

Richard is predeceased by: his parents Thomas and Kathleen McIntosh; parents in law Ernest and Bertina Bennett; brothers in law: Derrick Rideout and Glen Pelley; and sister in law Cathy Bennett.

He is survived by: his wife Vivian, they would have celebrated 55 years of marriage this coming December; his sons: Glenn (Laurie) and Keith (Suzie); his grandchildren: Daniel, Abigail, Maggie, Claire, Rachel, and Charlie; great grandchildren: Adyrionna, Noah, Oliver, and Addison; sisters: Lorraine Rideout, Candace (Robert) Henri; and brother Michael (Sandra) McIntosh; and all the Bennett Family. Also left to remember Richard are a large number of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends.

Richard is well known for his devotion to his family.  He was a loving, caring husband, father, and grandfather.  His grandchildren were especially important to him, and he was very involved in their lives.  He was a great handyman, always with a job to work on or a project to complete.  He was a devoted, long-time volunteer of the Stephenville Search and Rescue Organization, and was very devoted to his Catholic faith, as evidenced by his well-worn rosary beads.

Richard loved to chat, and a great many conversations have been had over the years with many people.  He enjoyed telling stories about the past, telling jokes and liked to voice an occasional complaint! His often repeated sayings and comments will be remembered fondly by his family and will provide happy memories for years to come.

Following his wishes cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 9th from 7:00-9:00 PM at Russell’s Funeral Home, Stephenville. A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, August 10th at 10:00 AM from St. Stephen’s Parish, West Street. Interment to follow at Hillside Interfaith Cemetery.

The family respectfully requests that there be no flowers donated.  Donations can be made to a charity of your choice or a helpful hand to those in need. Amen.

Special thanks to Dr. Lewis, Elizabeth Rose Lomond (CHN), Father Chris, Father O’Quinn and all who gave support in any way. (Hugs, Visits, Text, Calls, donations of food, a wave as you pass by.
