<p>HANCOCK </p><p><br></p><p>Nancy Korpi, 79, a former resident of Oskar Bay, passed away Thursday, August 4th, 2022, at Canal View – Houghton County where she had been a resident patient.</p><p><br></p><p>Nancy (Somero) Korpi, was born in Highland Park, MI, on January 7th, 1943.</p><p><br></p><p>Nancy grew up in Utica, MI, with her parents, Wilbert and Mildred Somero, and her 3 siblings, Maria Somero, Patricia (Somero) Kaczor, and Matthew Somero.</p><p><br></p><p>Nancy was united in marriage to Larry Korpi, on February 29th, 1964.</p><p><br></p><p>They lived most of their life in the Copper Country, but also resided in MA and TN.</p><p><br></p><p>They were married for 58 years, and had 8 children.</p><p><br></p><p>During this time, Nancy enjoyed her life as a homemaker raising her children, baking and cooking for her family, and attending church. She had a strong faith in God and lived her life filled with grace, humor, and sisu.</p><p><br></p><p>Nancy's employment positions included, working as a child and elderly caregiver, as well as working as a Secretary in Ithica, NY, where she met her husband, Larry.</p><p><br></p><p>Nancy is survived by her husband, Larry, her sister, Patricia (Alan) Kaczor, and her 8 children. Lisa (Thomas) Storm, Kristen (Michael) Jankowski, Mark (Sally) Korpi, Jennifer (Micheal) Valitalo, Carolyn (James) Williams, Loren Korpi, Keith (Medina) Korpi, and Priscilla (Daniel) De Lisle. She was adored by her 22 Grandchildren, and 11 Great Grandchildren and many other nieces, nephews and cousins.</p><p><br></p><p>Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Mildred, her sister, Maria, her brother, Matthew (Mickey), and great granddaughter, Dahlia Rose.</p><p><br></p><p>Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date, for the immediate family of Nancy.</p><p><br></p><p>In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Lutheran Church, 400 Ingot Street, Hancock, MI, 49930.</p><p><br></p><p>To view Nancy's obituary or to send condolences to the family please visit www.memorialchapel.net.</p><p><br></p><p><br></p><p>The Memorial Chapel Funeral &amp; Cremation Service - Hancock Chapel has been assisting the family with the arrangements.</p>

Nancy Korpi, 79, a former resident of Oskar Bay, passed away Thursday, August 4th, 2022, at Canal View – Houghton County where she had been a resident patient.


Nancy (Somero) Korpi, was born in Highland Park, MI, on January 7th, 1943.
