Larry Messmore, 82

Larry P. Messmore passed peacefully from this world on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at UH Samaritan Medical Center, Ashland. Larry was born September 13, 1939, to Grace and Paul Messmore and graduated from Sullivan High School in 1957.

Larry retired from Timken of Ashland, Ohio, in 1999 after 30 years of service. He was a member of the Savannah Lions Club, served as a member of the Crestview School Board for over 20 years, a trustee for Firelands Electric and served many years as Elder of Ashland Christian Church.

Larry would marry the love of his life, the former Marilyn Bruce on August 23, 1964. Larry is survived by his wife of 57 years, his two children, Mark Messmore (Kara) of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, and Stacey (Greg) Nelson of Ashland; four grandsons, Ian and Elijah Messmore and Carter and Jacob Nelson and sister Emma Messmore of Ashland.

In addition to his parents, Larry is preceded in death by his in-laws Carl and Florence Bruce of Ashland, siblings Raymond, Harold, William (Bill) Messmore and Okal Shonkweiler.

Larry will be remembered as a man devoted to his family and a servant to his community. Larry could strike up a conversation with nearly anyone and discuss his variety of interests. Such interests included fishing, bowling, watching television westerns and spending time with his family, especially his grandsons.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Pastor Scot Myers. Interment will follow in the Ashland County Memorial Park. Friends may call on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The Savannah Lions Club will hold a memorial service at the conclusion of visitation on Tuesday. Family will also receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.
