Joseph M. Weemstein, age 81 of Georgetown, DE passed away at home on August 3, 2022, just one day shy of his 82nd birthday. He was born in Lewes, August 4, 1940, the son of Isaac and Elizabeth Weemstein. Joe was the proud owner and operator of the former Joe’s Paint and Body Shop and Joe’s Towing, Inc., which he operated until his passing. He was a very genuine, kindhearted, hardworking man who was known and loved by many. In addition to spending time with friends, he loved tinkering in the garage on his vintage cars and volunteering to tow at the local racetrack. Joe’s bright ornery smile and charismatic nature will be dearly missed. He loved to tell jokes or share a funny story. Joe never met a stranger and was a trustworthy man who was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by death by his significant other, Ginger Lathbury. Joe is survived by his daughter, Lynn Lafferty, “canine” friend, Trey, as well as his special caregivers, friends and many others who touched his life. A visitation will be held from 12 to 1 pm on Monday, August 8, 2022 at Short Funeral Services, 416 Federal St., Milton, where a funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm.
