Fannie Mae Gates of Berryville, Arkansas was born in Weatherford, Texas to William and Myrtle (Russell) Culp on April 13, 1936. Fannie passed away on August 3, 2022, in Berryville at the age of 86. Fannie was a believer in Christ and through the Bible Baptist Church, she became an ordained minister on July 26, 1990. She was a loving person and loved by many. Fannie became family with the staff at Autumn Hill and loved them dearly. She and Earl loved to travel and go on adventures. Fannie was known as a great seamstress and made clothes for her family. She later worked at Glick and was known for her quality of work. Fannie’s fried chicken was next to none, and people would pay her to cook it for them. She is survived by her husband Earl Gates of Spring, Texas; children William Sooter of Berryville, Lela Huffman and husband Vernon of Kingman, Arizona, Wes Sooter and wife Donna of Berryville; sister Linda Templeton and husband Larry of Humble, Texas; grandchildren Sharon, Rodney, Kristen, Leslie and Alina; 13 great grandchildren; along with numerous other family members and friends. Fannie is preceded in death by her parents William and Myrtle Culp; son Billy Joe Sooter; sister Fern Geneva Lane. Visitation will be 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm, Sunday, August 7, 2022, at Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel in Berryville. Funeral service will be 12:00 pm, Monday, August 8, 2022, at Charles M. Nelson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Larry Templeton and Rev. Todd Rogers officiating.
