MUNCIE – Denver Berlin Rowe, 93, passed away on Tuesday evening, August 2, 2022 at Northview Health and Rehab in Anderson. He was born on June 12, 1929 in Jamestown, Kentucky, the son of Fred and Sarah (Glover) Rowe and graduated from Noblesville High School in 1948. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Anderson College and his Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana University. He served his country honorably in the US Army from 1952-1954. He married his high school sweetheart, Ruth M. Sullivan on November 25, 1948 and they were married for 70 years. Berlin taught and coached high school basketball at Arcadia, Talma, Royal Center and Monticello before ending up at Muncie Central High School for 38 years until his retirement in 2005 at the age of 76. He led his 1963 Royal Center Team to the final 8 and his 1970 Muncie Central Team to the final 4. He was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church. He enjoyed attending all his grandchildren’s activities, talking basketball and baseball and playing cards. Berlin leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters, Sherry Krause (Tom) and Donna Cook (Ray); one son, David Rowe (Laura Jean); grandchildren include, Ryan Krause (Shea), Jason Krause (Julie), Matthew Krause (Elizabeth), Jonathan Rowe (Jason VanHorn), Christopher Rowe (Sarah), Andrew Rowe (Sabrina) and Troy Cook; great -grandchildren, Addison Ruth Krause, Hudson Krause, Leah Krause, Landon Krause and Reid Jean Rowe; step-granddaughter, Mindy Tuttle (Norman); step great-grandchildren, Alexis and Nick Tuttle; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 70 years, Ruth M. (Sullivan) Rowe on July 24, 2019; and two brothers, Kermise Rowe and Phillip Rowe. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 8, 2022 at The Meeks Mortuary, Washington Street Chapel with Pastor Glenn Knepp officiating. Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 9, 2022 in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with full military honors provided by the United States Army and the Veterans of Delaware County. Family and friends may call at The Meeks Mortuary and Crematory, Washington Street Chapel, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2022 or one hour prior to services on Monday at the mortuary. Memorial Contributions may be directed to Muncie Central High School Athletics, 801 N. Walnut Street, Muncie, IN 47305. Online condolences may be directed to the family at www.meeksmortuary.com.

I worked with Berlin at Muncie Central and he was always a calm and steady influence. He always wore a 3 piece suit and looked dapper everyday. My sympathy to his family.
