Mary Glaser Logansport, Indiana Obituary

Mary Glaser

Mary Elizabeth Glaser, 43, Indianapolis, formerly of Lucerne, passed away Monday evening, August 1, 2022, in the IU Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, following a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Born November 12, 1978, in Logansport, she was the much-loved daughter of Bruce E and Cheryl A. (March) Glaser, who survive. From the time she was a small child, Mary loved books. After her 1997 graduation from Pioneer High School in Royal Center, Indiana, Mary headed off to Bloomington where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunication in 2001 from Indiana University. Mary started working for the new Borders Book Store in Indianapolis and eventually joined the staff at IUPUI's Law Library. That was the catalyst that led her to pursue a Master of Science degree in Library Science. For the past sixteen years, she has enjoyed her career as a cataloging and collections manager with the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library. It was the perfect job for a hard-working young lady who possessed a passion for reading coupled with the skill of being extremely organized. In high school band, Mary played the trumpet. While at IU, her love of music and traveling led her to take a class on the Beatles, which included a trip to England. Mary was not impressed by materialistic things; she enjoyed the simple things in life. Mary was the kind of person who saw the good in everyone. In addition to reading, Mary enjoyed documentaries. She also enjoyed gardening as well as helping her companion, Arin Motter, make salsa as well as pickling vegetables and canning the fruits of their labor. Mary had a heart for animals, too, and loved her dogs, Fry and Mr. Kitty. Mary was very close to her brother and sister-in-law, Eric and Aynna Glaser, along with her nieces and nephew, Olivia Glaser, Sophia Glaser, Ashley White and Jordan Walton. She enjoyed a special relationship with her aunts, Donna March and Polly (Bill) Barber. She is also survived by several extended family members. Her personality endeared her to many friends all over the globe. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, August 7 in Fisher Funeral Chapel, 1801 Chase Road, Logansport. At 3 p.m. a Memorial Service celebrating Mary's life will follow. Inurnment, at a later date, will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Mary would want her passion for reading and her love of animals to be the legacy she leaves behind, so memorial contributions to the Plainfield Guilford Township Public Library or the Cass County Humane Society are suggested. Right now it’s difficult to express the magnitude of loss, so I’m going to focus on one single aspect of our friendship- the really fun part. Mary was the very first friend to meet my new puppy Poppy. Before I even took Poppy home I swung by the library to introduce he... Continue Reading

From the first day I had her when she was in 7th grade, Mary left a lasting impact on my life. I still remember her favorite yearbook birthday cake was strawberry. She made life so much fun and she was always so kind to everyone. She will be missed.
