Melvin Clifford Myers, 79, of Bridgewater, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2014 at Harrisonburg Health & Rehabilitation Center.
He was born in Rockingham County on November 10, 1934, a son of the late Justus Oliver and Lillie Mae (Kenney) Myers.
Melvin was a member of Montezuma Church of the Brethren. Melvin retired from Imco Plastics in 1998 and had served in the U.S. Army.
He was united in marriage on June 28, 1980 to Nellie Anne (Hosaflook) Myers, who preceded him in death on November 18, 2010.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Jane Rawley and husband Dennis of Bridgewater and Barbara Wise and husband Bill of Grottoes; two sons, Gary C. Myers, of Bridgewater and Billie J. Myers, of Alexandria. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at the Johnson Funeral Service in Bridgewater at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 with Pastor David R. Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Clover Hill Cemetery with military rites by the Dayton American Legion Post #27.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:00 AM prior to the service.
