Orville Clinton Staats, Jr.

Orville Clinton Staats, Jr. 66, passed away at his home after a short battle with Cancer on December 29, 2020. Formerly from Jackson and Wood Counties in WV, J.R. moved to Columbus, Ohio where he lived for the past 40 years and retired from Pizza Hut. J.R. was born in Jackson County, WV, on April 29, 1954, to the late Rose and Orville Staats. He attended Ebenezer Baptist Church growing up. He loved playing guitar and singing the old church hymns and continued his faith in God throughout his life. J.R. was especially proud of his older home that was full of character with its coffered ceilings and hardwood floors. He loved posting to friends and family on Facebook and watching "MeTV". J.R. is survived by one brother, Roger Staats of Ripley, WV, three sisters, Crystal Pease (Jesse) of Ravenswood, Tammy Jones of Parkersburg, WV, Kim Sommerville (Larry) of Chatsworth, Ga., several Nieces and Nephews and his most cherished of all his cats; Peepers, Squirt, Socrates, Kitty, and Tiger as well as his long-lost Rooster "Henry". In addition to his parents, J.R. is preceded in death by his brothers Dave Suttle (2016) and Scott Staats (2011). Due to COVID-19, A graveside only service will be held at Ravenswood Cemetery on January 4, 2021 at 2:00 pm where he will join other family members gone before him.
