Delores Mae Boggess Obituary

Delores Mae Boggess, 87, our precious mother, went to be with the Lord on September 24, 2021, at Ravenswood Care Center after an extended illness. She was a beautiful gift to all who knew her. Philippians 2:3 says "Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourself". She lived a very giving life, and no words can describe the kind of love she had for her family. Her unconditional love touched many lives and we will miss her tremendously. She was born on July 29, 1934, in Cottageville, WV, the daughter of the late Theron and Susie Workman. She was a graduate of Ravenswood High School where she was crowned the first ever Miss Red Devil in 1949, alongside her future husband, Mr. Red Devil, Cecil Boggess. She was a homemaker, Greatest of ALL Time mother to her kids. Delores was an active member of Second Baptist Church and also dearly loved teaching the Shepherd's class for many years. She dearly LOVED the Cincinnati Reds. Delores is survived by her brother, Jim (Roxann) of Pt. Pleasant, WV; children, Ed (Cindy) of Battle Creek, MI, George Allen (LaDonna) of Springfield, TN, Robert (Lisa) of Ravenswood, WV, Ginny (Evan) of South Point, OH; 11 grandchildren, Michael Sayre, Mary (David) Beale, James Boggess, Sarah (Esteban) Ruiz, Abigail Boggess, Gretchen Caparotta, Joshua Boggess, Robert Boggess, Jr., Nathan Boggess, Ashley (Isaac) Conger, Noah Boggess, several beloved great grandchildren; 3 bonus great-great grandchildren; and also has countless nieces and nephews that were very dear to her heart. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Cecil Boggess; 1 brother, Junior Workman; 1 sister, Helen Holter; 1 daughter, Mary Ann; 1 grandson, Daniel; 1 granddaughter, Gillian; and many friends that she loved. Much appreciation extended to Arbors of Pomeroy, Ravenswood Care Center, and Kanawha Hospice for all of the love and care shown to our sweet mother throughout her extended illness. Friends may visit the family at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood on Thursday, September 30, 2021, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. A graveside service will follow visitation at 1:30 pm at Jackson County Memory Gardens in Cottageville, WV, with Pastor David Beale officiating. Masks are optional. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Jackson County Animal Shelter. Condolences to the family may be expressed to the family at roush94@yahoo.com or on our Facebook page.
