Barbara Ellen Flinn Obituary

Barbara Ellen Flinn of Ravenswood, passed away on August 27, 2021, at Camden-Clark Medical Center in Parkersburg. She was born on March 12, 1933, to the late Paul and Blanche Weckbacher Cline of near Graysville, Ohio. She was a graduate of Graysville High School, Class of 1950, and of Mountain State College, also attending Marietta College Evening School. On June 30, 1967, Barbara married Walter Ray Flinn and moved from Parkersburg to Ravenswood. She helped Ray rear his two children, Doug and Debbie. Barbara retired after 36 plus years from DuPont Research at Parkersburg. Her interests included traveling, volunteering, bowling, and playing bridge. She was a past matron of R. Douglass Chapter #15 Order of Eastern Star, Ravenswood; a Past Grand Representative of West Virginia in Ontario, Canada; and also, a 50-year member of R. Douglass Chapter. She was an active long-time member of the First United Methodist Church of Ravenswood; a member of the Ruth Circle; and served on various committees. In addition, she was a member of the Jackson General Hospital Auxiliary, serving as Secretary for many years, plus volunteering in different capacities. She is survived by step-grandson, Jeremy (Amber) Flinn, and their children, Ava, Connor, and Emmaline. Jeremy visited his grandma regularly and helped her in many ways. Theirs was a loving relationship from the time Jeremy was a toddler. Also surviving is her niece, Cheryl (John) Apazeller, and their daughters, Beth (Bruce) and Sara; nephew, Mike (Linda) Cline and son, Michael; her aunt, June Mobberly; step-daughter, Debbie (Greg) Cooper, and their children, Corey and Heather, and their families. In addition to their parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Flinn; step-son, Doug Flinn; brother and his wife, Kenneth and Cathy Cline; and nephew, David Cline. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 30, 2021, at 1:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Ravenswood with Pastor Michael Ludle officiating. Eastern Star Service will be conducted by R. Douglass Chapter #15, OES. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at the church on Monday, August 30 from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm, time of service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 719 Flinn Avenue, Ravenswood, WV 26164.
