Visitation Location: Roush Funeral Home Calling Hours: Monday, August 8 (6-9PM) Location of Services: Roush Funeral Home Time of Services: Tuesday, August 9 (1PM) Coach Craig Stanley Harmon, 68, of Ripley, WV, passed away on August 4, 2016, at Ohio State Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. He was born on November 6, 1947, in Williamson, WV, son of late Alvin Adkins and Edith Hammond Harmon. He attended the Evans United Methodist Church. Craig was a star athlete at Ravenswood High School, graduating in 1967. He played basketball, football, baseball, and track. While Craig loved all sports, his main love was basketball. He would spend hours upon hours perfecting his game. After high school he went on to Fairmont State to receive his degree in education. He always knew his calling was in being a teacher and coach. Craig taught for 42 years and dedicated his life to serving his students and being a positive role model for them. His always positive attitude was infectious and wore off on many people he would come in contact over the years. He was a coach for different sports over the years. They included being given the head basketball coach at Ripley High School in which 2011 he was voted among his peers the mountain state athletic conference coach of the year. He also was the assistant girls track coach, 9th grade football coach, and head tennis coach. In addition to Ripley he was also coach of the Ravenswood golf team in which one year his team won the AA state championship. His players and students were like his own and he loved them all. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janice Carol Harmon, Ripley,WV, son, Ryan Harmon and wife Jennifer, Huntington, WV, granddaughters, Chloe and Sydney; sister, Drema Kay Harmon, Ravenswood, WV. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Gail Harmon. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 1:00 pm at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Monday, August 8, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery.
