Schmidt, 77, of New Matamoras, Ohio, passed away on June 7, 2016, in New Martinsville, WV. He was born on January 3, 1939, in Charleston, WV, son of the late Glenn Schmidt and Hazel Haynes Schmidt. He was a Scholar, Pastor, Teacher, Husband, Father, and Poppy. He was an Ordained Elder of the Church of the Nazarene for 47 years, and an Interim Pastor for multiple congregations. He was an avid reader and Bible scholar. Bob was a postal worker for 30 years in Charleston, WV, and Bennettsville, SC. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his wife of 8 years, Rose Schmidt; 3 daughters, Melinda (David) Willis, Jennifer (Brian) Paxton, and Marsha (Robert) Coon; stepdaughter, Theresa (Donald) Klink; grandchildren, Tiffany, Andrew and Nathan Willis, Crystal McGoron, Tyler Paxton, Daniel and Ryan Sauls, Kassie Gillespie, Kayla Palmer; and 10 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Bill Childress; wife, Sarah; brother, Gene; and granddaughter, Julia Palmer. Services will be held on Saturday, June 11, 2016, at 11:00 am at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood, WV, with Pastor Chris Skeens officiating. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery.
