Norma DeLong Ravenswood, West Virginia Obituary

Norma DeLong

Norma DeLong of Ravenswood, WV, passed away on November 25, 2020, after sustaining a second stroke. In the 1954 Ravenswood High School Yearbook, a recent graduate declared his love for Norma Neldene Burdette. The late William Adria DeLong married Norma on January 4, 1955, and they started their adventure together. They moved into a small farmhouse on Milhoan Ridge with no road, electric, or water. They raised 2 children, Karen and William Duane, and defied all odds living the statement that "you can have anything through hard work". Norma was born on December 4, 1938, the youngest child of Lloyd and Cora Milhoan Burdette. She grew up never knowing her grandparents. Upon becoming a grandmother, she stated that she wanted to be remembered as a good grandmother. She is survived by her children, Karen and Duane DeLong; grandchildren, Anthony (Amy) Titus, Traci (Matt) Alsup, Amanda DeLong, Jonathan (Amy) DeLong; great grandchildren, Colin Jarrell, Kaylin Dickerson, Lillian Crudge, Dustin, Logan and Brayden Alsup, Aubrey and Luke Titus, Camden and Ella DeLong. The family would like to thank the Ravenswood Care Center, Dr. Michael Moses, Diane and Kim, Camden Clark Hospital and House Calls Hospice, for the excellent care she received. There was no visitation and the service was private followed by burial next to her husband at the Ravenswood Cemetery. Norma was a faithful member of the Milhoan Ridge Baptist Church where she held various positions in the past. The family requests that anyone who knew her, loved her laugh and quick wit, perform an act of kindness in her memory to someone in need. The private service was held on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood. Burial followed in Ravenswood Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family at roush94@yahoo.com or on Facebook at www.facebook.com/roushfuneralhome.
