Rex was born May 18, 1917, to the late James Henry Stallings and Rae Wren Franklin of Medina, WV. He married Daina Olive Kieffer in 1941 and served in the United States Navy during WWII. In 1945 he returned to his family home where he continued operating the family farm into his 90's. Rex was kind, soft spoken animal lover who had a passion for woodworking, bird watching, and playing string music. Rex was a member of the Beech Grove United Methodist Church where he was the song leader and taught Sunday school for many years. Rex is survived by his wife, Daina; two daughters, Tobie Taylor (Jim) and Joyce Coleman (Dave); four grandchildren, Scott, Steve, Jason (Megan), Carri (Gary); and great granddaughter, Makenzie, who he thought was special; two nieces, Anita Emerick (Roger) and Donna Lyons. He was preceded in death by his brother, Bert C. Stallings. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at 12:00pm at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood with Reverend Karin Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm also on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Simpson Cemetery.
