She was born on May 28, 1928, in Clay, WV, daughter of the late Stavley and Etta Belle Burnside Lyons. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ravenswood, and a member of Bible Baptist Church in Danville, WV. She was a disciple of her Lord Jesus. She worked for Jackson General Hospital in Ripley, WV, for 10 years. She is survived by her daughters, Virginia (Alan) Skeens, and Penny (Johnny) Halstead, both of Boone County, WV; 3 grandchildren, Jason Skeens, Brycen Miller and Bradley Miller; 2 step-grandchildren, Traci Stowers and Brian Halstead; 12 great grandchildren, Hayley, Emma, Jacob, Zane, David, Makenzie, Abigail, Joshua, Isaiah, Daniel, Kaylee and Chance; sister, Mary Kay Staats; and 3 brothers, Robert Lyons of Linden, NC, Tom Lyons of Parkersburg, and Bill Lyons of Williamstown, WV. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Asbury; 3 sisters, Joy Wolfe, Shirley Miller and Peggy Lyke. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, July 9, 2017, at 2:00 pm at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood, WV, with Pastor Johnny Barker and Pastor Alan Skeens officiating. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Sunday, July 9, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm.
