Frank West Obituary

Visitation Location: Roush Funeral Home Visitation Hours: Wednesday, July 25 (5-8PM) Service Location: Roush Funeral Home Time of Service: Thursday, July 26 (1PM) Frank West, longtime Ravenswood resident, departed this life on july 23, 2018, to join his wife of 54 years. He passed at home, cared for by his family. Frank was born on December 29, 1933 at Peebles, Ohio, the son of the late George Earl and Blanche Bellaw West. Frank was united in marriage to Clara Ann Whitaker. Frank was one of 5 children, all born at home. hair extensions uk Frank is survived by three children, Douglas (wife Sherry), Twila (husband Denzil) and Brad. Brad assumed the role of looking after Frank since Clara passed. Frank is also survived by two grandsons, Jay West and Clayton Richards and is survived by four great grandchildren, Isaac West, Mckenzie Richards, Tristan Richards, and Kennedy West. He is also survived by one sister, Dorothy Tong and by dear friends, Dr. Ali Morad and Boots Smitherman. Frank was preceded in death by his wife Clara, one granddaughter, Bobbi Jo Richards, 1 brother, Sammy, 2 sisters, Jean West and Myrtie McBee. Frank was a staunch union supporter, a member of Steelworkers 5668 for 30 plus years, serving as the Vice President and other roles. Frank was an avid supporter of efforts to restore rights and benefits to former Century Aluminum union employees. Frank served one tour in the United States Army as a tank driver. Frank may have been best known in Ravenswood as "Generous Frank", a partner to "Big Hearted Ned" (Ned Sizemore). The two sold Ohio produce in Ravenswood for years from a truck bearing their likenesses. Frank's family joked he gave away more produce than he ever sold. Both that fact and his family's teasing were a source of pride for Frank. human hair wigs Sometimes Frank's willingness to "help the people" backfired on him. He had made a number of friends in the Amish community in Ohio and they called on Frank from time to time for help and transportation. When one Amish family was holding a wedding, they asked Frank if he could transport a guest to the wedding and Frank willingly agreed. One guest led to so many guests that Frank was unable to fit them in his car. To fulfill his promise, he rented a van to transport all the guests from Pennsylvania to Ohio and back again. Frank also had a commitment to visiting those in hospitals and nursing homes and was especially devoted to attending visitations and funerals of friends who had passed... ALWAYS in a clean car. He was known for his sense of humor and constant teasing and joking. Frank will be deeply missed by his family, and we suspect, by many in Ravenswood. Frank constantly reminded people, that, with his last breath he wanted to be "aggravating" (his word) someone. He very nearly accomplished that. Rest in peace, Dad, you're home. Friends may visit the family, Wednesday, July 25, 2018 from 5:00-8:00pm at Roush Funeral Home, Ravenswood. Funeral Service will be Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 1:00pm at Roush Funeral Home. A visitation will also be Thursday from 12:00-1:00pm. Condolences may be sent to the West family at roush94@yahoo.com or on Roush Funeral Home's facebook page.
