Barbara Jeanne Shannon-Fenney
Barbara Jeanne Shannon-Fenney of Ravenswood WV, went to be with our Lord and Savior May 8, 2017. She was born August 5, 1937 in Bellingham, WA, to John and Armida Hopfinger. She was blessed with 5 wonderful years with current husband James Franklin Fenney, Jr., and celebrated 45 joyous years with late husband James O. Shannon. She impacted many lives through her faith and community service as an active member of First Assembly of God, board member and tireless worker for Jackson County Habitat for Humanity and No Hunger Food Pantry. She retired as a RN Home Health Supervisor working for the Jackson County Health Department for most of her professional life. Barbara was an accomplished pianist playing for her church, community cantatas, wedding and personal enjoyment; she also enjoyed the West Virginia Symphony. Survivors include husband, Frank Fenney; sons, Forrest Shannon (Annette) of Spokane WA and Bruce Shannon (Mary-Jean) of Cary NC; daughters, Melody Vannest (Brian) of Ravenswood WV, Barbara Spencer (Dustin) of Clarksburg WV; 6 grandchildren James Vannest, Zachary Vannest, Taylor Shannon, Grace Shannon, Haley Spencer, Benjamin Spencer. A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held 11:00 AM Saturday June 10th at North United Methodist Church in Ravenswood, WV (officiated by retired pastor Bob Holland), and 12:00 PM Sunday June 11th at First Assembly of God (officiated by pastor Brad Pucket) in Parkersburg, WV. Her family would like to thank her friends and community for their prayers and support throughout her illness. She was a wonderful loving mother and wife and will be missed by all. In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara's memory will be greatly appreciated by Jackson County Habitat for Humanity of Ripley, WV, or No Hunger Food Pantry of Ravenswood, WV.
