Tommy was born in Blue Jay, WV on January 23, 1929, a son of the late Herbert Harlin and Clarice Mae McKinney Smith. He was a member of the Comet United Methodist Church, and Steelworkers Local Union 5668. He retired in the maintenance department from Kaiser Aluminum in Ravenswood. He enjoyed woodworking, outdoor activities, and sitting on the front porch and visiting with various friends and neighbors. Tommy greatly loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Freda Neal Smith of Ravenswood; daughters, Charlotte (Michael) Riggs of Rotonda West, FL, Vicki Flanagan of St. Albans WV, and Robin (Chuck) Wise of Ravenswood, WV; son-in-law, Frank Gwinn of Medina, WV; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; brothers, Charles (Alice) Smith, and Joseph (Barbara) Smith; sisters, Vivian Skaggs, Hulda Vest, Marilyn (Johnny) Waterbeck, and Melinda Francis (Angus) Hart. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Gwinn; son-in-law, William Flanagan; brother, Orville Sonny Smith; and sisters, Betty Osborn and Gladys Olson. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2017, at 1:00 pm at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood with Marvin Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Jackson County Memory Gardens in Cottageville, WV. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Thursday, April 27, 2017, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, time of service.
