She was born on July 26, 1931, in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She shared 68 wonderful years with her husband and the love of her life, the late Reverend Theodore (Ted) Bransford Winkler, Sr. Mary had the blessed assurance of joining her husband in Heaven. In her youth, Mary enjoyed competitive swimming and racquet sports. She won many awards and set records at her high school and in the city of Chattanooga's formal swimming sports. In 1952, Mary and Ted dedicated their lives to serve God, and they impacted many lives. In 1960, Mary and Ted and their young family, moved to Mexico where they served as Baptist missionaries for two years. In 1964, they moved from Tennessee to West Virginia with Mary supporting Ted in his position as pastor at the Forks of Coal Missionary Baptist Church in Alum Creek, WV. In 1967, they were led to Ripley, WV, to serve at Ripley Baptist Temple where Ted accepted the position as pastor. human hair wigs Mary always took an active role of serving and ministering in any way she was needed. She enjoyed summer church camps as counselor and other youth activities in the church. After moving back to Chattanooga, Mary and Ted found a loving church family at Hixson First Baptist Church in Hixson, TN. They loved their church family and had many fun and happy memories with the friends they made. Mary loved her Sunday School classes and had lots of fun activities with all her special friends. In 2008, Mary and Ted relocated to Ravenswood, WV. They became members of the Ravenswood First Baptist Church making new friends, and reuniting with their many friends in Ripley. Mary always talked with great pride and all the love she and Ted had for the many friends they made throughout the years. Survivors include daughters, Linda Alford (Larry Seckman) of Philippi, WV, Carol Crow (Dave) of Ravenswood, WV; sons, Theodore "Brad" B. Winkler, Jr. (Robin) of Camp Hill, PA, and David L. Winkler (Wendi) of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Shirley Crump of Chattanooga, TN, Jean Bailey of Dalton, GA; and brothers, Chet Crump of Texas, and Jack Crump of Eton, GA; 8 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Ted, Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Chester Charles Crump, and Ethel Lyles; and one sister, Betty Mansell. Her family feels so blessed and thankful for their mother and grandmother for all the guidance, love and care she provided during her life. Her family thanks her relatives and many friends for all their support. The family is especially thankful for the daily support and loving care provided by her daughter, Carol, for both her mother and father during the past several years. The family also thanks the many staff members at the Ravenswood Village and her doctors for Mary's care the past few years. She was a wonderful and kind lady, and she will be missed dearly by all, but the memories are precious. Services will be held at the First Baptist Church in Ravenswood on Sunday, April 9, 2017, at 3:00 pm with Pastor Mark Gerstell officiating. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit the church on Sunday, April 9, 2017, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm, time of service.
