Simmons, 89, of Ravenswood, WV, died on April 2, 2017, at her home. She was born on February 29, 1928, in Wilkes-Barre, PA, daughter of the late Stephen Stanley and Marie Rose Dunn Stasik. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence (Al) Simmons, and her son, Albert Leonard. She was married to Clarence (Al) Simmons on June 25, 1950. Betty graduated from St. Marys School of Nursing in 1948 as a Registered Nurse in Huntington, WV. She worked at St. Marys Hospital and Jackson General Hospital a total of nine years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, Delta Beta Chapter Sorority for 14 years and Ladies Guild at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Ravenswood. She enjoyed many crafts, such as sewing, needlework, and canvas painting. She is survived by her children, Richard Simmons, Cindy Simmons McComas, Philip Simmons, Edward Simmons, and Rita Simmons James.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017, at 11:00 am at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Ravenswood with Father Pen officiating. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood on Wednesday, April 5, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.
