Robert Allan “Bob” Moresea Obituary

Robert Allan "Bob" Moresea, 69, of Ravenswood, W.Va., passed away peacefully surrounded by family March 25, 2020, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky., following a brave, hard-fought battle with cancer. Bob was born Feb. 14, 1951, in Beloit, Wisc., a son of Robert Lynn Moresea and Elsie Elizabeth Kvasnak. After his father's death when Bob was 3, Elsie moved home to the Pittsburgh area and married Ben Cedar, who lovingly raised Bob as his own son. The family would later move to Ravenswood, where Bob graduated as part of the RHS Class of 1969. In Ravenswood, he met the love of his life, Diana Lynn Hunt, and the two married on Aug. 11, 1973, beginning a 46-year journey of laughter and joy. Bob's life was marked by a fierce devotion toward the ones he loved, particularly his three sons - Matt, Eric and Marcus. A doting father, he documented his boys' athletic and artistic achievements through the camcorder he kept permanently attached to his head and the library of newspaper clippings detailing their accomplishments. Bob's booming voice could often be heard at high school sporting events criticizing referees or correcting PA announcers who butchered the family name. ("More-A-See!," he'd scream.) Bob was also renowned for his two other great loves: the Pittsburgh Steelers and Marshall University. The best times of his life were spent talking about the Steelers or Thundering Herd during beer tastings with the family. A professional educator, Bob worked many years as a substitute teacher in Jackson County before becoming a full-time health and P.E. teacher at Ravenswood Middle and then Henry J. Kaiser Elementary. Ever a child at heart, he reveled in the opportunity to teach young kids to play. In addition to his wife, Bob is survived by brothers Jeff (Cindy) and Ken (Kandy) Cedar; sons Matt (Traysea), Eric (Emma), and Marcus (Rachel) Moresea; grandchildren Maria, Max, Monroe, Avery, Anthony and Aiden; and many beloved in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Bob will be honored with a small prayer service with immediate family at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood, with Father Penumaka Manikyalarao officiating. Once the coronavirus public health crisis subsides, the family intends to have a full funeral mass and "Celebration of Life" event so all of Bob's family, friends, students and co-workers can get together and commemorate his life. Roush Funeral Home of Ravenswood is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at roush94@yahoo.com
