Denzil C. Southall died peacefully on Friday, August 16, 2019, at the age of 75 after a long fight with COPD/(asbestosis). Denzil is survived by his wife of 56 years, Vivian M. (Hoschar) Southall; his sister, Opal (Paul) Skaggs of Oakland, CA; children, Timothy (Kimberly) Southall of Waverly, OH, Alysia (Robert) Conway of Ravenswood, WV; and grandchildren, John (Michaela) Southall of Waverly, OH, and Alyxandria Conway, of Ravenswood, WV. Denzil is preceded in death by his parents, Otho and Mae Southall; and one brother, Ronald Southall. He was born on September 2, 1943 in Charleston, WV. He graduated from Ripley High School in 1961. He married Vivian, his high school sweetheart in 1963. After moving to Charleston, he began working for Kelly Axe Company/True Temper as an axe finisher for nineteen years. He then became a Supervisor at AEP Mountaineer Plant for fifteen years and retired as a Coal Lab Technician. Denzil was an avid hunter, fisherman, and outdoorsman and taught his children the adventures and beauty of the great outdoors. Denzil was accomplished at math, Latin, and Drafting. He was a hard-working individual who enjoyed farming and raising Black Angus Cattle. He was a loving family man who enjoyed his family and the time spent with them. A private viewing and celebration of life was held at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood, WV, on Saturday, August 17, with his closest relatives.
