He was born on July 19, 1936, in Kayford, WV, son of the late Ernest and Madeline Rice Carr. He graduated from St. Albans High School in 1955 where he was an outstanding athlete who participated in all sports. He graduated from West Virginia University in 1959 with a BS Degree, and was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He was employed at Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corp. with 30 years of service, and retired in 1989 from Ravenswood Aluminum as a Production Control Superintendent. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Starcher Carr of Ravenswood; children, Cathy Nelson of South Charleston, WV, Karen (Chuck) Haught of South Charleston, WV, and Jennifer (Lee) Cooperrider of Hurricane, WV; grandsons, Christopher Nelson, James (Jay) Edwin Nelson, C.J. Haught, and Alex Haught; stepchildren, Lydia (Charles) Mitchell, Anthony (Cindy) Haught, and Laura (Fred) Stovall; and step grandchildren, Natalle Stovall, Adam, Jenna, and Andrew Schindler. The funeral service will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016, at 2:00 pm at Roush Funeral Home in Ravenswood, with Reverend Shauna Hyde officiating. Burial will follow in Ravenswood Cemetery. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Friday, September 9, from 12:00 to 2:00 pm.
