She was born on March 8, 1940 to Donald and Berniece (Ehrich) Sweet in Blue Earth, Minnesota and grew up on the family farm as the third of seven children. She attended country school until transferring to and graduating from Blue Earth High School. She married Mervin Heiko Bruns on June 3, 1960 and moved to the Bruns family farm where she and Mervin raised three children. Alice loved being a farm wife and living on the farm until the final months of her life when she moved into the Woodlands Assisted Living facility in Clive, Iowa. Faith was an important part of her life, and she was active in Good Hope Lutheran Church in Titonka where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir for many years. Alice is preceded in death by her husband, Mervin; her parents, Donald and Berniece (Ehrich) Sweet; her brother and sister-in-law Loren and Fern Sweet; sister and brother-in-law Vivian and Roland Wedel; and her brother and sister-in-law Lowell and Nancy Sweet.
