Diomedes (D) Loo-Tam, 83, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2022. D was born in Remedios, Panama. He was the third of seven children of Lorenzo and Tam Sii de Loo. D excelled in school and was the class valedictorian at the Instituto Pan-Americano in Panamá City, Panamá. He earned a B.S. in Business from Oklahoma City University and an M.A. in Economics from Michigan State University. D began his financial career at Wells Fargo Bank. He moved on to ISI, where he served in various managerial capacities before becoming Treasurer in 1975. In 1985, D joined Franklin Resources (later known as Franklin Templeton); he was Controller when he retired in 2000. After retirement, D continued to serve as a consultant to Franklin Templeton and MyVest for several years. D also mentored many protégés throughout his career. D is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Rita; his daughter Kathy (Larry); and his grandson, Adam, the light of his life. He is also survived by his siblings and siblings-in-law: Samuel (Lydia) Loo, Luzmila (Rolando) Lum, Francisco Loo-Tam, Carlos Chen, Gladys Sanson de Loo, Octavio (Stella) Lee, and Diana Wong; numerous nephews, nieces and godchildren. A celebration of life mass will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 @ 10 am at St. Brendan’s Church, 29 Rockaway Avenue, San Francisco, CA. Interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1500 Mission Road, Colma, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of the donor’s choice in the name of Diomedes Loo-Tam.
