James H. "Jimmy" Marlowe Obituary

James (Jimmie) Howard Marlowe, 79, of Phoenix, AZ, passed away on July 16th, 2022. James was born on May 2nd, 1943, to Thomas and Alice Marlowe in LaFollette, TN. In 1958, he met the love of his life, LaDawn (Lackey) Marlowe at the Faith Free Will Baptist Church, in Lake Zurich, IL where James' father, Thomas was the minister and where they wed in 1964. Together, James and LaDawn had three children, Brett, Michelle and Todd. For more than 45 years, James fortified his mastery of construction, benefitting the communities in which he lived. He built homes, offices, the Faith Free Will Baptist Church in Island Lake, Illinois as well as baseball dugouts and concession stands in Wauconda and Island Lake, Illinois. Above all, he passed along his expertise to his family. James shared his love of baseball (and the Yankees) with the kids he coached in Minor, Little and Pony Leagues over the years. He was a lover of America's sports car, the Corvette and he and LaDawn treasured their weekends in Corvette Corral at Road America and their many road trips, most recently driving his 2021 C8 Stingray more than 2,500 miles from New Jersey to Phoenix. James' passion for the elusive musky brought him to Eagle Lake, Ontario, Canada year after year and inspired his children and grandchildren to embrace his love of fishing and the great outdoors. Early in life, James learned the importance of hard work and he instilled that same work ethic in his children. He was always there for anyone who needed help and he worked tirelessly to ensure that his extended family had everything they needed. He faced every challenge in life with admirable strength and courage. He was a man of strong faith and he taught all those around him the importance of family, hard work and doing what is right. James' deep love and devotion to LaDawn was an inspiration to all that knew him. He was a true role model who will live on forever in our hearts. James is predeceased by his parents Thomas and Alice; his brothers, Howard and Virgil; his sisters Christine, and Irene and his beloved grandson, Nathan. He is survived by his wife, LaDawn; his sister, Betty Webber; his three children, Brett Marlowe, Michelle (Sieb) Marlowe and Todd Marlowe; his six grandchildren, Alexandra, Rachel, Zachary, Sydnee, Eli and Landon; and his great-granddaughter Mia.
