Ed Frangenberg, age 81, of Radcliffe, IA, died on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA. Edmund Dean Frangenberg was born on June 6, 1941, in rural Marcus, IA. He was one of three children born to Otto & Pearl (Heinis) Frangenberg. He grew up near Marcus, Iowa, and received his education at the Holy Name School where he graduated from high school with the Class of 1959. On June 8, 1960, Ed was united in marriage to Jerrolyn Ann Doody in the Holy Name Catholic Church in Marcus. Ed’s academic accomplishments were many: He attended Wayne State College where he graduated with a BS in 1964, received his Master’s Degree in Secondary Education from Northwest Missouri State in 1975, and he graduated in 1979 from Iowa State University with a Specialist’s Degree in Superintendent & Elementary Administration. Over his working years, Ed taught Business Education at Primghar High School 1964–65 and also coached girls basketball. He spent from 1965–1976 at NESCO where he taught Business Education while coaching boys basketball, boys track, he also was an assistant football coach and annual staff sponsor. In 1976 the family moved to Radcliffe where he served as Principal of Radcliffe Community School from 1976–1987. From 1987 until 1993 he was the Hubbard–Radcliffe Elementary & Middle School Principal. He spent the last three working years as the Hubbard–Radcliffe Superintendent & Elementary Principal retiring in 2000. Death came to Ed quickly following a very short bout with Leukemia. He passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA. Those thankful for having shared his memory include his three children Marty Frangenberg and his wife Wendy of Polk City, IA, Brett Frangenberg and his wife Ingrid of Johnston, IA and Teri Jensen and her husband Kurt of Gilbert, IA; seven grandchildren; two sisters Connie Haack of Marcus, IA and Mary Beth Bouchard of Laguna Vista, TX; along with many other relatives and friends. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jerri, and his special friend Eva Pruhs. May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family for distribution to: Radcliffe Friendly Fairways, Radcliffe Library and Israel Family Hospice House.
