Donald Tempest

<p>Donald Tempest, 64, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:15 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2022, at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour.</p> <p>Born October 28, 1957, in Seymour, he was the son of the late Floyd &ldquo;Pete&rdquo; and Grace (Gookins) Tempest.</p> <p>Donald was a graduate of Jennings County High School and Versailles Vocational School. He was a truck driver for Schneider Trucking and Grammar Industries for 45 years before retiring. Donald also worked for Tempest Tool and Machine for 16 years. He was a member of Zion Baptist Church in Jennings County and enjoyed being outdoors, woodworking including making furniture and grandfather clocks. Donald loved collecting and restoring farm equipment, with International Harvester being his favorite.</p> <p>Survivors include his brother, Pat (Phyllis) Tempest of Clovis, New Mexico; nephew, Leon Tempest of Columbia, South Carolina.</p> <p>A funeral service for Donald will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at the Dove-Sharp &amp; Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Service in North Vernon with the Rev. Richard Burcham officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery.</p> <p>Memorials may be made in honor of Donald through the funeral home to the Zion Baptist Church Building Fund or the Jennings County 4H Endowment at Jennings County Community Foundation. &nbsp;</p>

Donald Tempest, 64, of North Vernon, passed away at 2:15 p.m. on Monday, August 1, 2022, at Covered Bridge Health Campus in Seymour.

Born October 28, 1957, in Seymour, he was the son of the late Floyd “Pete” and Grace (Gookins) Tempest.

Richard Burcham officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. Burial will follow in the Vernon Cemetery.
