Patricia "Ann" Hazelbaker Obituary

Patricia Ann Hazelbaker passed away on Monday, August 1, 2022, in Duncan, Oklahoma with her family by her side at Elk Crossing Nursing/Rehabilitation. Patricia Ann was born September 26, 1934 in Stuttgart, Arkansas to O.L. “Mutt” and Nellie (Hagan) Shook.

Graveside services will be Friday, August 5, at 10:00A.M. at the Duncan Cemetery with Rev. Tracy Wilson officiating, under the direction of Whitt Funeral Home.

Ann graduated the Stuttgart High School in 1952. She married George Hazelbaker December 10, 1952 in the First Methodist Church of Stuttgart. Ann worked for the Fairbanks-Morse & Company from 1952 to 1956 and for ARKLA Gas Company from 1957 until 1959. She also worked for C.R. Anthony’s for 11 years and owned LaHacienda Gift Store for 13 years.

Ann was active in her church, First Methodist Church-Duncan, as well as being very active in the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Red Hat Society. She worked was a volunteer with the Christians Concerned organization and helped deliver Meals on Wheels. She was an honorary member of the Duncan Evening Lions Club. In Stuttgart she was a Sunday School teacher. She also served as a Brownie and Girl Scout leader and later as a Cub Scout leader. Ann was Known as the “Nit Wit” because she loved to knit. Her famous Christmas stocking have been used worldwide.

Survivors include her husband, George; grandson, Michael Pipkin and wife Heather; niece, Karen Ward; and nephew, John Shook.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Diane; son, Karl; father, Mutt Shook; mother and stepfather, Nellie and Henry Dudrick; and her brother, Leland Shook.

Memorial donations made be sent to the Duncan First United Methodist Church, the Oklahoma Lions Service Foundation of Oklahoma City, or the Christians Concerned of Duncan.
