William Goodwin

William Goodwin of Ardsley died on July 9th, 2013 at his home after a heroic battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 62 years old. Beloved husband of Debbie and father of Matthew. He is also survived by his sister, Rita and brother Paul Diane and a niece Rachel and nephew Paulie. He graduated from Lehigh University with honors in 1973 and received his M.B.A. from there in 1974. Mr. Goodwin was an investment professional at the Mutual Life Insurance Company of New York MONY and its successor companies for over 30 years. Attaining the level of Senior Vice President, he was in charge of a multi-billion dollar portfolio of Private and Public fixed income securities, venture capital investments and Agricultural loans. Under his leadership MONY Capital Management was established as a separate investment manager as part of MONY's portfolio of companies. During his tenure significant growth in the venture capital business became a major factor in the bottom line results of MONY. He also led the effort to attract outside investors to allocate money to investment vehicles managed by his investment professionals which further enhanced MONY's net income. After retiring from AXA Equitable, Bill was an adjunct professor in the school of business at Manhattan College. This opportunity to teach brought great joy to bill and he was able to make a real connection with his students. There will be a memorial gathering at his home, 152 Heatherdell Road, Ardsley, NY on Friday July 12th from 3-8 p.m. A funeral mass will be held Saturday, July 13th at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 535 Ashford avenue, Ardsley. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bill's memory to: Manhattan College Office of Planned Giving 4513 Manhattan College Parkway Riverdale, NY 10471
