Richard R. Sachs

Richard Raymond Sachs 68, died peacefully on Sunday, June 23, 2013 after a long illness. Son of the late Walter and Marie Sachs, he was born in the Bronx and later moved to Dobbs Ferry where he was a resident for 37 years. He was a graduate of Mount Saint Michael Academy, Stonehill College, earned a Masters degree from Bernard Baruch and proudly served in the US Army. Mr. Sachs, was retired from Metropolitan Life where he enjoyed a long and successful career and held various positions including Chief of Staff for the President & CEO, Head of Human Resources Shared Services and Vice President of Corporate Ethics & Compliance. He was also appointed to the Grace Commission, a task force formed by President Ronald Reagan. As a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Mr. Sachs was a leader for the youth group, Antioch. Working with key Parish members, he spent several years advising and guiding teenagers. After retirement, Mr. Sachs also served as a crossing guard in Dobbs Ferry, serving the village he loved. He was most proud of his family and was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Margaret Sachs, his daughter Maureen Burr John, his daughter Kerry McFeetors Marshall, his son Michael Sachs Amanda, his grandchildren Conner, Kaitlyn, Cameron Burr, Annie and Henry McFeetors, his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Frank Gannon and several nieces and nephews.Mass of the Resurrection Thursday 10:00AM Church of the Sacred Heart, Dobbs Ferry. Visiting Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9PM Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. Memorial donations be made to Calvary Hospice or St Jude Children's Hospital.
