Ethel K. Zeh

Ethel K. Zeh, 86 of Irvington was called to Heaven on February 12, 2013. Born and raised in East Irvington "Little Dublin", she was the daughter to the late Edward and Anabella Kerr. Ethel was a graduate of Irvington High School. On March 6, 1948 she married her long time sweetheart, Donald Zeh who she met in the 7th grade. They bought their first and only home in Irvington and raised 3 daughters. Ethel was very proud of her home and worked tirelessly with Donald to make it their dream house. She was a loving mother and dear neighbor to all she met. Ethel would always cook for her family as well as anyone else on the block that needed a hot meal. She constantly helped people who needed a helping hand and would give rides to anyone who needed a lift. Ethel enjoyed being with her family, especially around the holidays. She loved to bake apple and pumpkin pies and sugar cookies. Ethel loved Christmas so much; the decorating celebration started the day after Thanksgiving. Ethel was extremely proud of her husband's business, Elmsford Body Shop Inc in Elmsford, NY. She was the accountant for the shop as well as being the office manager. Ethel was a friend to all who met her and treated everyone as if they were her own. She was very active in the Elmsford Women's Chamber of Commerce as the Secretary and Treasurer. Ethel also worked at the polls for the Irvington Board of Education's elections and budgets. She was a member of the Greenburgh Republican Committee for many years. Ethel will be greatly missed. She is survived by her 3 daughters Debra Kerr Zeh, Kim Marie, MD and Bonnie Alan and 4 grandchildren Logan Alan, Kobi Brooke Kyle, Rexi Grace and Kayci Kerr, sisters and brother Mildred Gorton, Eleanor Sammartino, Edward Kerr II and Barbara Carrozzi. Ethel was predeceased by her husband Donald in 2005. Funeral Service Tuesday 10am Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Dobbs Ferry. Visiting Monday 1-5pm Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. I am so sorry to hear of Aunt Ethel's passing. She was a great lady and I have so many happy memories of her and your Dad. I loved her laugh and can hear it now. That is what will always stay with me her laugh, her smile and her great love of life.
