Antoinette Cuva Obituary

Antoinette was born on June 13, 1923 in NYC and was the youngest of four and only living survivor. She graduated Walton High School in the Bronx, received her undergraduate from Hunter College and law degree from Fordham law school in 1949. Her family moved to the Inwood section of Manhattan where she was a parishioner of Good Shepard Church In 1958, she married Frank Cuva there and gave birth to her son Anthony in 1961 and daughter Teresa in 1963. She began working for the city of New York in 1945 while attending law school at night. Although she passed the bar, she chose not to practice and remained employed with the City for 48 years until she retired in 1992 from her position as Deputy Chief County Clerk. In 1987, she was the proud recipient of the prestigious Bernard Botein Award for outstanding contributions to the administration of justice. Antoinette was an incredible sibling, wife, mom, grandmother, aunt, friend among others but most notable was that she was a pioneer. Although she had many hardships in her life from personal tragedies to battling depression and later in life Parkinson's disease she was a tough lady with remarkable resilience.
