Eva Siwick Dobbs Ferry, New York Obituary

Eva Siwick

Eva Siwick passed away on December 7, 2019. She was born in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York on December 4, 1933, a daughter of Eva and Andrew Siwick. The youngest of 13 children, she dearly loved to have a good laugh with her family and friends. Eva welcomed them into her home, generously offering food and drink, and conversations that followed would lead to her many interests from sports to her love of animals. Although a lifelong resident of Hastings, she was a fan of the New England Patriots, a nod to her many summers spent on Cape Cod. Eva also rooted for the Green Bay Packers and, of course, the Mets. In her younger days, she spent a lot of her time bowling with her friends, and won many trophies. Having grown up along the Hudson, Eva cherished the beauty of the river. A visit to Eva's home would find her busy on her porch working on a puzzle and keeping the many birds in her back yard well fed, while waiting on that cat to stop by for its daily visit. Eva was an avid shopper, and loved to find a good bargain. When she saw something on sale, she would say "I just couldn't leave it on the shelf!" This resulted in a lot of hard-to-find hardware in her basement, that she generously offered to lend out to family. Eva lived her life to the fullest. She was always on the move, and would jump into her car to go "wheeling" around the villages, visiting friends. She was an independent spirit, while cherishing the company of her loved ones. She appreciated each of her many nephews and nieces, and she held in her heart their unique individual personalities. Eva was everyone's favorite aunt, and the essence of what an aunt is all about. Eva was predeceased by ten of her siblings. She greatly loved, and will be missed by, her two surviving sisters, Pauline Heffernan of Florida and Dorothy Vitagliano of Dobbs Ferry. She is also survived by multiple generations of nephews and nieces living near and far. In lieu of flowers please contribute to your local ASPCA.
