Joseph O'Mara

Joseph O'Mara, 92, a long time Hastings-on-Hudson resident died March 29, 2009. Mr. O'Mara was born in Yonkers to John and Alice O'Mara and after the death of his father, he and his mother moved to Hastings. He served in the US Navy during WW II and played basketball on the Navy team. After the war, Mr. O'Mara returned to Hastings and resumed his job at Anaconda Wire & Cable Co. He was a design engineer and worked there for 30 years. He enjoyed hunting, golfing and as a young man played semi-pro basketball. Mr. O'Mara was a co-founder of Hastings Little League. Survivors are his sons Joseph and his wife Karen, John Howard Jack and his wife Deborah, grandchildren; Dr. Leigh O'Mara, Lillah O'Mara, Maureen Derek O'Brien and Erich O'Mara. Also surviving are his brother William P. Daley and his sister Alice LaPier. Visiting Wednesday, April 1 2-4 & 7-8:30 Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home with a service to be held at 8:30pm.
