Anthony DePaolo Obituary

Anthony J. DePaolo, 86, of Irvington, died March 10, 2009. He was born in Dobbs Ferry, son of Sebastiano and Maria Scoca DePaolo. During World War II he served honorably in the United States Navy on the Battleship U.S.S. Washington, which was engaged in many significant battles and combat operations in the South Pacific, including the Capture of Saipan, Guam, Peleliu and Anguar and participation in Naval raids on Luzon, Okinawa, Formosa Taiwan, the bombardment of Iwo Jima and Tokyo raids. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star. He worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Dobbs Ferry before his later employment as a custodian at the Irvington High School for ten years prior to his retirement. He was an avid golfer, a member of the Embassy Club in Dobbs Ferry and a resident of Irvington for over 45 years. In 1957 he married Margaret MacIntyre. He is survived by his wife Margaret Marge, his daugthers Rosemarie Carroll and Lorraine Cephir, 6 grandchildren and his brother Rocco Mary DePaolo. He was predeceased by his brothers Albert and Kenneth and his sister Frances.
