Phyllis D. Paretti Dobbs Ferry, New York Obituary

Phyllis D. Paretti

Phyllis D. Paretti, 89, a life-long resident of Dobbs Ferry, died peacefully at her home May 30, 2012. Born and raised in Dobbs Ferry, Phyllis was the daughter of the late John and Rachael DeRosa. She graduated from Dobbs Ferry High School in 1941, where she had been active in the dramatic club. Her high school ambition was to go on a road tour, and she did travel extensively with her family. She loved seeing new places and making friends wherever she went, but she always returned to Dobbs Ferry - to home. She married her husband, Edward on November 13, 1960 at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Dobbs Ferry; they loved each other deeply and enjoyed more than 51 beautiful years together. For many years, she worked as secretary to the plant manager at Stauffer Chemical Company in Chauncey, NY; after "retiring" and then returning twice, she finally retired in 1975 when she and Ed moved to York, PA. where they lived until 1983. She always treasured Dobbs Ferry at heart and couldn't wait to move back home. She was an unforgettable woman with a contagious love for life and a superb memory. She never forgot a birthday, anniversary, a phone number, or an address. She loved her family and lifelong friends. A devout Catholic, she was a member of the Sacred Heart Sodality of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Sacred Heart Seniors, the Order of the Sons of Italy and the Dobbs Ferry and Ardsley Seniors. Phyllis was truly a wonderful woman and will be deeply missed. She is survived by her husband, Edward, son John Camille Orlando, daughter Marie Paretti Duane Means, brother Gayton Marie DeRosa and aunt Ida Pascocella. Phyllis is also survived by cousins Msgr. Thomas Bergin, Rob Joan Pascocello, William Annette Pascocello, Donald Connola, Marie Madigan, Allen Fran Anderson, Harrietta Hughes, and Chris Wood and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by John Orlando Sr. d. 1951. Mass of the Resurrection Monday 9:30AM Church of the Sacred Heart, Dobbs Ferry. Visiting Saturday 7-9PM and Sunday 2-4 and 7-9PM Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. Memorial contributions to the Dobbs Ferry Pavilion of St. John's Riverside Hospital are welcome.
