John "Jack" Hagerty

John "Jack" Hagerty, 85 of Irvington, formerly of the Bronx passed away on January 31, 2015. Born in New York City, he was the son of the late Patrick and Anne Hagerty. John served in the United States Coast Guard from 1947 to 1950. He worked as engineer for the Health and Hospitals Corp. of New York City for many years. Jack married Joan Clarke on March 31, 1951. He was an avid fisherman and had a passion for the ocean. John was a devoted husband, loving father and wonderful grandfather. Jack is survived by his wife of 63 years Joan, four daughters Carol Edward, Susan Henry, Kathryn Vincent and Judy Arne, 10 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Robert HagertyJean, sisters-in-law Estelle Clarke, Margaret DolanJohn and June PappasJames. Jack was predeceased by his brother Richard HagertyPatricia. Mass of the Resurrection Wednesday 10am Church of the Immaculate Conception, Irvington. Visiting Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9pm Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center or to the Irvington Volunteer Ambulance Corps. or to Phelps Hospice.
