Eugene Leo McDonald, 83, long-time Dobbs Ferry resident, died on February 6, 2012. He was born in St. Paul, MN to Bernard and Josephine McDonald. Eugene served in the US Air Force during the time of the Korean Conflict. He married Shirley Barnd on September 10, 1955 in St. Paul, MN. She predeceased him in 1988. They moved to Dobbs Ferry in 1962 and raised their family. Eugene worked as an account executive for the Shell Chemical Company and retired after 26 years. He became extremely active in the Dobbs Ferry community, especially in the sports programs. Eugene loved being an umpire and official for the High School sports. Since 1983, he has been a member of the Westchester County Baseball Umpire's Association and the Westchester County Football Official's Association. Eugene is survived by his 3 sons; Brian Carol Ann, Timothy Sandy and Alan Vickie and 7 grandchildren; Bobby and Michael Matthews, Danny, Kaitlyn, Tyler, Sean and Emily McDonald. He was predeceased by his daughter Jenny in 1996. Mass of the Resurrection Friday 9:30AM Church of the Sacred Heart, Dobbs Ferry. Visiting Thursday 2-4 and 7-9PM Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home.
