Matthew Sansverie

Sansverie, Matthew D., 56 of Tarrytown, died June 25, 2014 at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center after a lengthy illness. He graduated cum laude from Fordham College at Rose Hill with a B.A. in Political Science, and received a JD degree from Fordham University School of Law, Lincoln Center. Matt's professional career began as an Assistant District Attorney for Nassau County, and he went on to serve as the Assistant Attorney General in the NYS Attorney General's Office. He served as the Internal Controls Officer with the Battery Park City Authority, and was appointed Inspector General of the MTA. Matt continued to work during his illness, only recently retiring as Law Secretary from the Nassau County Court. He was an avid NY Yankees fan and a talented cartoonist whose sense of humor encompassed every aspect of his life, attested to by his many friends. Matt was the much loved husband of Raysil Galan, loving father of Jamie, dear son of Betty and the late Albert, adored brother of Barbara and Timothy, and fond uncle of Sean and Alexandra. He leaves a gap that can never be filled. Mass of the Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Matthews Church, Hastings-on-Hudson, Monday June 30, 2014 at 10am. The family requests that donations be made in his memory to the CERN Foundation for Ependymoma cancer research at cern-foundation.org
