Philip Elias Bistany Sr. Obituary

Philip Elias Bistany Sr., 90, died Monday July 21, 2014 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. He was born in Yonkers to Elias and Habouba Rose Bistany. Philip was a veteran of World War II and owned Phil's Barber Shop, Elm St., Yonkers until December 1992. He continued to cut hair at Al's Barber Shop in Yonkers and from his home for many years. Philip loved music and dancing. He played the accordion and harmonica. One of his best attributes was his heart-warming smile. Philip was predeceased by his first wife of 26 years, Eleanor Petrizzo, whom he married in 1950 at St. Mary's Church in Yonkers. Eleanor passed away on May 10, 1976. He was also predeceased by his sister Alma Egiziaco in June 1978. Philip is survived by his second wife of 33 years, Sophie Pappis Dragoni, whom he married on July 19, 1981 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Elmsford. Also surviving are his three children, Janice Robert Luckasavage, Philip Meredith Bistany, Debra Kenneth Marshall, two step children Christine Daniel Serino and James Margaret Dragoni. Philip also leaves 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Mass of the Resurrection Friday 11:00 am Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Elmsford. Visiting Thursday 2-4 & 7-9 pm Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home. Memorials to the Alzheimer's Assoc. - alz.org in memory of Philip appreciated.
