Anthony J. Russo Obituary

Anthony J. Russo, 90, a 65 year resident of Irvington passed away on June 13, 2014. Born and raised in White Plains, he was the son of the late Olerio and Elvira Russo. Anthony served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. On April 11, 1948, he married his beloved Mary L. at the Church of the Immaculate Conception in Irvington. Anthony was a supervisor for the NY Telephone Company for 35 years. He was an avid NY Yankees fan and enjoyed bowling at Scappy's for many years. Anthony also enjoyed golf, fishing and gardening. On April 20, 2013 he took part in the Hudson Valley Honor Flight from Stewart Air Force Base to Washington. Anthony will always be remembered for his keen sense of witty humor. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be missed. Anthony is survived by his daughters Cynthia and Dianne, granddaughter Caitlin, brothers Rudolph and Rocco and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Mary in 2012. Mass of the Resurrection 10am Tuesday Church of the Immaculate Conception, Irvington. Visiting 2-5 and 7-9pm Monday Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home.
