Anna Puzio Obituary

Anna Puzio, a resident of Andrus-on-Hudson, died Dec. 19, 2011. She was born in Bayonne, New Jersey and as a young girl moved to the Ukraine with her family. She returned to the U.S. in 1939 settling in Yonkers. On Oct. 4, 1942 she married Casimir "Sam" Puzio. In 1963 they moved to Hastings where they raised their family. Mr. Puzio died in 1971. Anna was a long-time parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church and was a member of the Sacred Heart Society, the Golden Agers and the Ladies' Auxiliary of the parish. She was past president of the VFW Beatrice Gorman Post 200 Ladies'Auxiliary in Hastings. She was also a member of the Hastings' Canteen and the Hastings' Mother's Club. Anna is survived by her daughter Jane Hoffman and sons Billy Carol Ann Puzio and John Adrienne Puzio, grandchildren: Eric, Jennifer, Sara, Michael and Joseph. Also surviving are a step-brother Peter and two step-sisters Stephanie and Peggy of the Ukraine. She was predeceased by her husband Sam, siblings Michael, Helen, Sophie and John along with her son-in-law Elliott Hoffman. A funeral of Divine Liturgy will be Friday 10 a.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church. Visiting Thurs 2-4 and 7-9 at Edwards-Dowdle Funeral Home with a funeral service Panakhyda at 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions to St. Michael the Archangel Ukrainian Catholic Church, 21 Shonnard Place, Yonkers, NY 10703.
