Dawn A. Bottiglieri Hastings on Hudson - Dawn Altheia Grell Bottiglieri was born to Martin and June Mathers Grell on November 11, 1952 at St. John's Riverside Hospital in Yonkers, NY. She was raised and educated in Ardsley, NY, graduating Ardsley High School class of 1970. Dawn was a graduate of Cochran School of Nursing and commenced a 45-year journey working nights in ICU at St. John's Riverside Hospital. In April 1979 she married Peter Bottiglieri. They lived in Dobbs Ferry until 1985 when they moved to Hastings On Hudson, NY. Dawn and Peter had four sons, Travis, Justin, Evan and Collin. Dawn was loved by her coworkers and was a mentor, confidant, benefactor, and friend. Dawn was very involved with special education for the Hastings school system as a parent representative for 20 years. She was also a parent in absentee and advisor at meetings for boys at Children's Village for 10 years. A pet lover, Dawn always had many cats and dogs, and was a part of parrot rescue Westchester County. She was on the ASPCA speed dial for Westchester and on call for the Bronx Zoo bird rescue. Dawn loved knitting and crocheting and was known for her baked goods for all the Hasting school system and HASP. Dawn was pre-deceased by her parents Martin and June, her sister Cheryl Marsh, and two aunts who helped raise her, Altheia Mathers and Gee Mathers. Dawn is survived by her husband Peter and her four sons Travis, Justin (Andrea - the daughter she never had), Evan, Collin and brothers, Russell (Lizabeth), Kurt (Ivan), Bret (Carol), sister Holly Hoffman (Rick), and numerous nephews and nieces. Dawn loved nursing and "was a nurse of a day gone by." The care of her patients and their family were her main goal. She was a special lady and will be missed by all who met or knew her. Flowers are for the living; one flower is all that is requested.
